From Network Engineer to Web Designer

Hi, I’m David, founder of Kelp Digital.

In 2010, I swapped Ireland for Australia, for the lifestyle, the opportunity and warmer waves.

For over a decade, I worked as a Network Engineer, building and maintaining the technical infrastructure that keeps businesses running. I have always taken great pride in my work, helping others and going above and beyond when necessary.

In 2021, I made the move to the Surf Coast. I had always dreamed of living by the ocean, and Torquay’s close-knit community reminds me of where I grew up in Ireland. It felt like home straight away.

But the move sparked a bigger question. What if I could use my technical skills to help real people? Not corporate networks, but local business owners who pour their heart into their work.

That’s how Kelp Digital came to be.

Now I get to combine what I love. Solving technical problems, building things that work, and working with good people to help small businesses grow something meaningful online.
